Fogelsville Cub Scout Pack 72

Resident camp

Nestled within the Trexler Scout Reservation is Akelaland and Cub Scout resident camp.  This wonderful camp turns out summer after summer of excited seasoned campers hoping the year goes by quickly so they can return once again.  Just ask any boy who went to camp- even those fellows who may have been a little bit homesick on Sunday or Monday- they all don’t want that week at camp to end!

Think camp is just a time to sleep in tents and look at trees? No way!  These are not bored young men; no, these are young men with active bodies and active minds.  Imagine the fun and adventure your boy will have as he participates at the BB gun and archery ranges, and plays, fishes and swims at the waterfront.  Plus there is scoutcraft, nature, Webelos activities, handycraft, miniature golf,  hikes, campfires, songs, programs every evening, movies in case of rain, and much more.
Akelaland staff are top notch National Camp School trained professionals and experienced Boy Scouts.  These guys and gals know how to have a great time and get the Cubs up and participating.  They dress in costumes, sing songs, teach, have fun — you name it, these jokers will ensure your boy has a memorable experience at camp.  It’s no surprise that many of Akelaland staff were once Cubs who returned year after year throughout their scouting lives and want to share that magic with a whole new group of boys.

Summer camp is a great time for the Webelos scouts to earn many of their badge requirements: Aquanaut, Nature, Outdoorsman, etc. The Webelos hike takes them to the Boy Scout camp (a requirement for Arrown Of Light) and teaches them a ton of nature and hiking skills along the way.

If you were to visit Pack 72 at resident camp, you would see many familiar adult faces as well.  Our trained leaders who are able to come along also have a fantastic time at camp.  For many it’s reliving the past from the time they too were young scouts away from home for a week having lots of fun, and for others it’s the opportunity to finally get that experience.

This summer (2010) the theme at Akelaland is 100 Years of Scouting.  Surely the scouts will have a great time and even learn some fun facts abot scouting in the last century.  Pack 72 will be camping July4-9, but a mini week is available Sunday-Wednesday.
