Fogelsville Cub Scout Pack 72

Camp Spirit

Camp Spirit has been the home to Troop 72 and Pack 72 since 1996. This beautifully wooded, 23 acre tract of land is located in Fogelsville, PA.  Hassen Creek Lodge, the main building at Camp Spirit and often referred to as the “Scout House” or “Pack House” is a magnificent facility for our Troop and Pack. The building is a 5,500 square foot structure built partially into a sloping hillside. The main upstairs floor has the large main meeting space as well as a conference room and restrooms. The lower level has two more meeting rooms; this is also where the Pack and Troop store all of our camping equipment, firewood, sleds, and other assorted items. Outside, there is a paved parking lot that can accommodate 28 vehicles.

The building was formally dedicated May 19, 1996, when a cornerstone was placed to commemorate that historic year and the many years to come. The success of our building project was due to the man talents of our Leaders, Scouts, parents, and friends. Pack and Troop 72 raised $76,000 for the construction of our facility. Hassen Creek Lodge was built by the independent labor of dedicated leaders and scouts.

The grounds are the setting for many of the Pack’s outdoor activities. They run alongside a meandering creek (always a kid magnet!), and feature various camping and cook-out areas, spaces dedicated to BB shooting and archery during Fogelsville Day Camp, a large game field, and an amphitheatre “Chapel” for ceremonies and demonstrations. A stone arch from Camp Moritz (our former residence) is placed at the entrance to the Chapel.
